GroundWork group Mission Statement: "To strengthen the impact of nonprofit organizations by enhancing their ability to achieve their missions through sustainable and affordable information management, education and technology solutions."
Web Site Management
The Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter has a website that is hosted by the national Alzheimer's Association whose content is accessed and managed through use of a content management system tool. The Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter began looking for a different arrangement for their web site management. Michelle Chippas, Executive Director of the local chapter, approached GroundWork group about helping them manage their web site.

After talking through the issues and investigating the specific content management system, we began making updates to the site on a trial basis in mid September. Michelle and her staff were pleased with the turn around time, and as a result we began doing more and more web site work for them. Michelle feels as though she has better control over the content of their web site, and the updates and additions happen much more rapidly now. Eventually, our collaborative work together evolved into a new GroundWork group service offering: Web Site Management. We are now offering Web Site Hosting as well.

Pelotonia - A behind the scenes success story!
With an office and only a few desks, at the time, and three weeks to go before an open house and press releases going out to announce his new Columbus-based nonprofit, Tom Lennox approached GroundWork group with a challenge to help get his organization completely setup from a technical perspective. GroundWork group rose to that challenge and, in that short three-week period, was instrumental in swinging Pelotonia into operation by getting the organization up and running on our IT In a Box Managed Service. By utilizing this service offering, it provided a simple and worry-free IT capacity for the new organization that included: a full technical infrastructure including a server, email capability, Microsoft Office Pro, centralized data storage and back-up, print capability, network security, spam filters, remote access and secure wireless connectivity to the Internet. Moreover, GroundWork group assisted the organization by identifying the optimal in-house computer equipment, configuring the equipment and providing staff with training.

Additionally, Pelotonia is using GroundWork group's CIVIC Solution to manage the database of event registrants and volunteers. GroundWork group developed, launched and continues to host their website. In the first week of its release, Pelotonia's website had over 1,700 hits and over 7,000 page views. Furthermore, 375 individuals registered to get more information!

This recent success story with Pelotonia has demonstrated how Groundwork group was able to take a vision and leadership, and turn it into a fully functioning organization in less than a month's time. We are calling this new service offering "Nonprofit In a Box".

Pelotonia is a Columbus-based nonprofit organization established in 2008 with the objective to fund cancer research. Made possible by NetJets' generous $12.5 million gift to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute (The James), Pelotonia was created to organize a new cycling event in Central Ohio. The riding experience promises to attract serious riders as well as emotionally committed neighbors, friends and spectators for an ambitious weekend of cycling, entertainment and volunteerism to benefit cancer research. Pelotonia's inaugural tour is slated for the fall of 2009 with a goal of attracting over 2,200 cyclists, each raising a minimum of $1,000, and 100% of every dollar raised funding research. The name Pelotonia is derived from and inspired by "peloton," a French word meaning small ball or pellet, which is a cycling term describing a pack of riders who benefit from working together as a group.

Tom Lennox, Executive Director, shares the passion of Pelotonia. "I am a cancer survivor, having fought this disease with the help of excellent physicians and staff of The James just last year," said Lennox. "I know how critical it is that we continue to make research a priority, particularly the funding of new researchers, many of whom must wait years in order to receive funding to explore new treatments."

Pelotonia is one of GroundWork groups' newest Members. For more information, please visit their website at www.pelotonia.org or email them at questions@pelotonia.org.
