GroundWork group Tech Tips
Is your computer slow to startup? Does it take forever
to get to the desktop screen? Many of the problems
associated with slow startups can be resolved by
doing one simple procedure.
- Go to the start menu and click on the run icon
- Type in MSCONFIG
- In the General Tab under "Startup Selection"
choose "Selective Startup" and uncheck the "Load
Startup Items"
- Reboot your computer and enjoy.
Of course if you want to enable all the startup items
again just launch MSCONFIG and check "Load Startup
Items". If you are feeling brave you can go to the
Startup tab and manually select items you don't want
to start when you power on your computer.

GroundWork group's 3rd Annual Members Conference - The place to be and be seen!

The GroundWork group Team is very excited about
this year's Members Conference and we are using
this month's entire eNewsletter to tell you why.
We have staff members who believe that they are,
without a doubt, the #1 Ohio State football fans in the
country, however, they will soon be in the
presence of the #1 Ohio State Fan in the Country when
Dr. E. Gordon Gee, President of The Ohio State
University gives the Keynote Address! President
Gee will be speaking on our conference
theme "Collaboration - Working Together" and who
better would be able to speak on this topic than the
person who collaborates and works every day with
students, staff, university presidents, government
officials, and sometimes even the President of the
United States.
And, not only will we have President Gee giving our
keynote address, Janet Jackson, CEO of the
United Way of Central Ohio, will be introducing
President Gee! We will have on the same stage the
President of one of the largest universities in the
country and the CEO of one of the largest United Ways
in the country.

That Only Begins Our Day...

The middle and the end continue the excitement as
we go into our Information Technology Education
Breakout Sessions! We will be offering IT sessions
that each and every staff member in any organization
can benefit from and use on an everyday basis. There
will be four sessions offered in the am and four
sessions offered in the pm (no repeats). And, each
participant will be able to go to two sessions, one in
the morning and one in the afternoon. The most
difficult part will be deciding which one of these
exciting sessions to attend:
- IT Managed Services - Taking the hassle out of
IT
- Data Management "Lost and Found" - the "how to"
on making it work
- Green IT - What it is and how you can make it work
in your office environment
- How Does Your Website Reflect Who You Are or
Does It?
- Resource (Tracking) Management - Using
technology to track resources, in-house library, bar
codes, etc.
- HR - Using IT to Assess Job Skills
- Stretching the IT Dollar - Cost efficiency, budgeting
for IT, making the most of available resources
- Making Sense of IT Communication -
Teleconferencing, Blogs, Webinars, Wiki, Online
Networking
Not only do we have exciting topics but we also have
dynamic speakers! More on that later!

WrapUp Session

We don't want anyone to leave our conference walking
out without a proper sendoff (especially on a Friday
afternoon), so we have enlisted the assistance of Bob
Harrington, Senior Manager with LaPiana &
Associates, who is coming all the way from California
to do our Wrapup Keynote Session! After hearing
about our conference, when asked to speak, he didn't
even hesitate! He will be talking about "Mergers &
Strategic Partnering - Working Together". What a
great topic when we are continually hearing about one
nonprofit merging with another. That is why we bring
in the experts in order to learn from the best!
Of course, that will be a month after the big game with
USC, so we'll see if he is proudly displaying the Trojan
mascot or if Brutus will be mascot of the hour! Only
time will tell.
